NEW YORK – In the summer of 2017, Rick Pitino purchased a 32-foot powerboat with an open cabin and wraparound seating that he would take out into the Atlantic in the mornings to enjoy the view and listen to music alone. In the evenings, he would take the boat across the Miami River and tie it up at a restaurant. However, within a year, he sold the boat and then spent two years coaching Panathinaikos in the Euroleague followed by three years coaching Iona College. Now, at the age of 71, he is sitting in a rented Volkswagen Jetta, on his way to an apartment on the Upper East Side to which he and his wife have had since the late 80s.
