According to The White House’s statement on Friday, Elon Musk, who is the richest person in the world, was denounced for promoting antisemitic and racist hate on his social media platform X. The White House termed his actions as “abhorrent promotion of antisemitic and racist hate.”

Mr. Musk backed a post on X, formerly Twitter, that accused Jewish people of promoting hatred against whites and supporting the immigration of minorities. In response to the post, he replied, “You have said the actual truth.”

The White House spokesperson, Andrew Bates, condemned Mr. Musk’s actions and emphasized President Biden’s commitment to condemning antisemitism. He also mentioned the rise in antisemitism since the Israel-Hamas war in which Hamas killed about 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped more than 200.

In response to the situation, IBM suspended its advertising spending on X after it was discovered that their ads were appearing next to white nationalist and Nazi content.

The statement further highlighted Mr. Musk’s history of being criticized for tolerating and encouraging antisemitic abuse on his social media platform. It also mentioned his feuds with President Biden and their common ground on certain issues where they have worked together.

The White House condemned the promotion of antisemitic and racist hate and stressed the importance of unity and speaking out against attacks on fellow Americans and the safety of communities.

X did not respond to requests for comment.

The content included references to President Biden, Tesla, and their shared work with Mr. Musk on electric vehicle charging stations.
