Democratic governors in America take pride in their local economies and the projects they are able to start with new federal legislation. They have positioned themselves as champions of democracy and abortion rights. Their popularity in their home states greatly surpasses that of the Democratic president. Though President Biden is struggling, these governors are thriving, especially Kentucky’s governor who won re-election in a Republican state. The governors are confident in Biden winning re-election, but some privately fear Donald Trump could win the rematch. They advise Biden to talk more about abortion, stop talking about Trump, appeal to moderate Republicans and independents, highlight his achievements, focus on legislative achievements, and find enthusiastic Democrats to support him.
