Lamis Khaled Hassan Azazy always dreamed of having her wedding in front of the pyramids of Giza in Cairo. This dream became a reality in December 2022 when Dior put on a fashion show in front of the pyramids that she and her fiancé, Sherif Medhat Abdelhalem, attended. Their quest to hold their wedding in front of the pyramids was launched, but it wasn’t easy. The couple had numerous meetings with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt to address concerns about holding the wedding in such a historically significant place.

Lamis and Sherif’s love story began over brunch at a restaurant in Cairo by the Nile River. After many adventures and travels together, Mr. Abdelhalem proposed in London. They had a legal ceremony a few days before their planned wedding date on Oct. 29 at the Prince Mohamed Ali Palace in Cairo. Then, on Nov. 3, they celebrated their love with over 2,000 guests in a tent built for the occasion in front of the pyramids.

For her bridal entrance, Lamis emerged from the desert in a custom gold Elie Saab gown. They hired pop superstar Amr Diab for a private concert at the wedding. The celebrations lasted from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and it was a mystical and magical celebration that reflected the energy from the pyramids. The pyramids were illuminated with special lights for the occasion, and there were people in traditional Bedouin outfits and camels around the desert and the tent.
